Summary : He is an old man standing at the back of a boat. He is clutching a light suitcase and a newborn baby, even lighter than the suitcase. The old man's name is Monsieur Linh. He is now the only one who knows his name. Standing at the stern of the boat, he watches his country, that of his ancestors and his dead, recede, while the child sleeps in his arms. The country recedes, becoming infinitesimally small, and Monsieur Linh watches it disappear on the horizon for hours, despite the wind that blows and jostles him like a puppet.
